What do crocodiles and traders have in common?
Do Good Traders Have To Be Forceful?
Lots of people live very stressful lives because they are constantly pushing themselves every single day to do something that they feel they have to do, to get to where they want to be in life.
The thing that I love about trading is that less is usually more. You can’t say that about many things that make you that much money…
If you for example want to be a successful singer you have to put in a lot of hours and learn so many different things. You have to learn how to sing properly and engage your diaphragm and drop your larynx. You have to overcome rejection and put yourself and your music out there consistently for a really long time and make your name known. This takes a lot of energy, it’s not a easy feat, your success is not dependent on how talented you are if you’re a singer, it is more to do with how hard you, your agent, or your record label work. A singer that goes out and physically speaks to 100 different venues a week who can’t sing very well will do better than a singer who speaks to one venue and waits to be discovered….
If you want to be successful at anything usually you have to be pushy, forceful and persistently forceful, people that are pushy and forceful don’t usually have many friends, they tend to be loners on a mission to succeed, they don’t have time for idle chit chat.
They have better things to do…
There are a few things in life that require the opposite approach, the bulldozer push yourself till you’re exhausted approach doesn’t usually work, if you’re:
1) Playing chess, this requires more thought & patience
2) Falling in love, this requires self restraint…!
3) Yoga, this usually requires patience and concentration
4) Quitting sugar, nicotine, or any other addictive substance, this usually has to be done gradually.
5) Driving through heavy traffic, force would never help in that situation!
6) Building a friendship, this is easy when both people are busy and passionate about something that’s going on in their lives
7) Listening, when you listen to someone you make them feel special and wanted, but it doesn’t take much effort, more self restraint, unless you agree with them and are interested in what they’re saying, then the conversation flows easily.
8) Being healthy, to be truly healthy you have to have a healthy diet, work that you enjoy and healthy relationships with people that push you to be your best self whilst accepting you as you are right now. You can’t force any of these things, they have to flow naturally and develop over a long period of time, they require constant management, it’s like balancing scales.
9) Last but not least trading:) To be a great trader you have to watch and wait patiently for the perfect market conditions. If you place a trade in bad market conditions you will probably lose money. The best traders watch and wait far more than they trade.
10) Catching a human if you’re a crocodile, they are renowned for their patience because they are one of the most successful predators on the planet. They position themselves in the right place and then wait patiently for their prey to come to their hungry jaws!
What we can learn from this is that there are times in life when we have to be patient, and there are times in life when we have to be forceful, you need to be self aware enough to know what is required when, to know the right action at the right time is the secret of success, all the action in the world at the wrong time will not help you one iota,
and you have to be ready to act when the moment is ripe…
To your success:)
