Do you find it hard to concentrate on one thing for a long time?
You need to lengthen your attention span…
Some things destroy your attention span, a stressful work environment, drinking alcohol to switch off. Using social media, shallow conversations.
So what’s the solution?
First of all you need to find an actual book that you find interesting, not a fiction book, something you’re passionate about.
Then you need to read it….
Our brains are designed to seek novelty and stimulation.
10,000 years ago that new berry that you noticed may have been your only food source for a week…..
So we need to re train our minds by reading something we find interesting, and not some brainless fictional rubbish.
An actual book.
You also have to be interested in the topic.
I don’t care if it’s a book about neuroscience, geology, chemistry, quantum physics, exercise science or the effects of LSD. Just make sure it’s factual and interesting to you.
Then train your brain gradually by only reading a maximum of 4 books at once.
Studies have proven that your brain can easily remember 4 things at a time.
Not 5, not 7, 4.
Start off by reading this book for 30 minutes a day somewhere relaxing and peaceful 🙂
Eventually try and increase this to an hour a day, your brain will thank you for it if you manage to keep it up for 50 years, if we’re all lucky enough to be around for that much longer with Covid 19 and goodness knows what else….
The future is uncertain, but you can always read, anyone who has had an education, that’s mentally sound can read.
