Can Creative People Trade?
Are the best traders creative?
People often tell me that they can’t imagine me trading.
My answer to that comment is that people shouldn’t assume that traders are boring people that can only think with the left half of their brain, this is not true…To be a good trader you have to have good instincts, sometimes the market will do something unexpected.
Your job as a trader is to know when the market is about to do something crazy, sometimes you will know and you can avoid it, sometimes you won’t have access to any information that warns you of the upcoming unpredictability, succeeding as trader is very easy when you know how to avoid unpredictable markets.
If you rely on your common sense you will only be able to trade news, if you trade for years you will know when something is wrong as soon as you look at your charts.
Often the market will go sideways before a big announcement, but everyone knows that you wait for the announcement and then you trade, trading is much easier then.
But some weeks there is hardly any news, what do you do then? Then you need to use your experience, then you need to be able to look at charts and place a trade based on what you can see, and on what you read, you can’t just look at numbers and wait for a clear and obvious signal every single time you place a trade. If you want it to be your main income you have to be versatile and think outside the box.
Sometimes positive news comes out and the market drops, you have to understand the whole market to understand why this is happening.
Any physiotherapist will tell you that tight shoulders come from tension somewhere else in the body, tight shoulders are the effect, the cause may be tight hamstrings.
You have to take a step back and look at the whole picture, use your imagination.
The best ideas come to those that are not dependent on other peoples opinions, the best traders trust themselves more than they trust a guru.
If you need a guru to tell you what market to trade, what trade to place, what report to trade, what hours to trade…
You will never make a full time income as a trader…
You have to use your common sense, you have to create your own rules for yourself, you know your triggers better than anyone else.
Some people need to work with other people that are telling them what to do, they don’t have the confidence and the drive to motivate and manage themselves, those kinds of people should not trade…
Know yourself and you’ll know how and if you can achieve success as a trader, not everyone can.
I’m not going to tell people that anyone can make it as a trader, anyone with the right mindset can make it as a trader. If you don’t have the right mindset you can always create it, but to do that you have to create the right environment.
Go out and switch off, meditate or do whatever it is that you like to do to relax and think about why you want to make money trading, it is not enough to want money, why do you want money?
What would you do consistently with 10 million dollars that you can’t do now?
Notice I said consistently, once you’ve traveled the world, bought the clothes and bought the house, then what….?
Money is worthless to a fool, worthwhile to your average person and more valuable than life itself to a genius, anyone that takes the time to think and observe themselves and others will become a genius eventually, assuming of course that they aren’t a genius already…
Use your brain, empty your mind and observe your world…
