Are You As Addicted As A Heroine User?
Trading Is Addictive
Yesterday as I was running down the street in a lovely area in the morning I saw a syringe, horrified I thought about picking it up, then as a realised that it’s risky to touch such things I went on my way, even the nicest most normal looking people can be hiding deep dark private lives…
Anything we do repeatedly becomes a addiction because when dopamine is released in the brain it remembers the activity or substance that came before the high, that is how people form addictive patterns
It’s not just trading that’s addictive researchers have now proven that anything we do repeatedly becomes a addiction, even negative things that we don’t enjoy can become a addiction, the brain is designed to seek sameness and repetition. Even those people like myself that crave excitement still crave sameness, so tomorrow morning as you’re driving to work take a slightly different route so your hippocampus can grow…
If you know anything about trading you’ll know that it’s addictive, when you make money trading you feel high because your brain produces feel good chemicals like dopamine. Good traders have higher than normal activity in the inula which is a part of the brain that keeps track of how the body is feeling.
To be successful or happy in life you have to be able to control yourself and let yourself go, there are times when you need to let yourself go and go wild, and there are times when you need to control your urges, the right action at the right time is the secret to lifelong happiness.
The main addictions that affect most people are:
1) Drugs legal or illegal
2) Nicotine
3) Alcohol
4) Sex
5) Exercise
6) Gambling or trading
7) Activities that make you release adrenaline
8) Sugar refined or from fruit
9) Fatty foods like chips
10) Escapism
11) Attention instead of love
Almost everyone is addicted to at least 2 of these, the more addictions you have the harder it will be for you to be happy within yourself. If you can accept the fact that you’re addicted then you can change it.
Most people are addicted to something because something real is missing in their life. So for example if you are addicted to alcohol and can’t relax on the weekend unless you’re blind drunk then you’re obviously not happy with your work or your home situation. A afternoon spent alone in a park or by the beach will usually bring up some answers.
The thing is we are meant to live off the land and be in nature all the time, not just some of the time, we were designed to live in loving communities and share the land and hunting responsibilities within our small community. So anything you can do to feel that you’re part of the community where you live will help.
Getting into nature is the best addiction out there, running, walking or surfing. Anything that gets you into nature will be helpful.
So next time you feel yourself wanting to trade too much, eat mountains of junk food or gossip about meaningless stuff that’s going on in someone else’s life stop, take a minute, breathe and think about something that you’re grateful for:)
By being conscious of our addictions we can heal them and fix the root cause that made us develop the addictive pattern in the first place, some addictions are good, like exercise, sex with someone that cares for our wellbeing, work that we love, and recognition for doing great work, these are positive addictions…
If you want to trade without emotion the best solution is to place a forward contract at a set time based on news figures that are coming up. First you check the history, then you check the ones that are coming out. Then when your trade is placed you are not looking at the market, you are focusing on something else, then you avoid becoming addicted to trading. Alternatively you can trade forex and use a take profit to close your trade, then again you won’t have to look at the market when your position closes with a profit.
